If you love coffee flavored anything, then you will love this Tiramisu inspired overnight oats recipe that’s been taking the internet by a storm. Everyone is making it on social media so I decided to make some and wow is it so good!
You are going to love it and it will keep you so full all morning long. My kids love it too and most times I just use caffeine free cold brew when I know my kids are going to have some.
Ingredients you will need
Below is a quick visual and overview of the ingredients you will need to make it. I bet you have all these ingredients in your pantry too! Full measurements are listed further down in the recipe card.
Oat base:
- Oats: I used oats but rolled oats will work too. Do not try to use steel cut oats.
- Chia seeds
- Espresso coffee shots: or cold brewed coffee
- Milk: I used almond milk for this recipe, but most times I use 2% lactose-free milk because that’s mostly what my kids drink.
- Vanilla Greek yogurt: If you only have plain Greek yogurt, no problem, add a bit more vanilla.
- Vanilla extract
- Maple syrup: You can also use honey or agave. No set rule.
For the topping:
- Vanilla Greek yogurt
- Maple syrup, optional
- Cocoa powder for dusting
How to make Tiramisu overnight oats
Here is a step by step visual or how you can make it. Full instructions are also found in the recipe card with measurements.
- Prepare the coffee ahead of time and allow it to cool.
- Once the coffee has cooled, in a large bowl, add the oats, chia seeds, yogurt, vanilla, maple syrup, cold coffee, and milk.
- Stir everything together until they are well combined.
- Cover the bowl and let it sit in the fridge for at least 4 hours or overnight. If the oats end up too thick to your liking, you may add in a bit more liquid.
- Once the oats are ready, remove them from the fridge, open the bowl, and give it a mix.
- In a small bowl, mix the topping ingredients, the vanilla Greek yogurt with maple syrup if using.
- Next, divide the overnight oats into 2-3 jars, then top with Vanilla Greek yogurt to make a smooth layer.
- Finally, dust the top of each jar with cocoa powder and enjoy.
Tips from my kitchen
- You need to let the oats soak for a good 3-4 hours. If you use rolled oats, it may even need to soak longer. Otherwise it will just be a bit chewy instead of creamy soft.
- If you like to make it double chocolate, toss in some mini chocolate chips with the overnight oats before soaking.
- The cocoa powder is optional, you can swap it with some shaved dark chocolate.
Common Questions
Yes. Caffeine free will work just fine, especially if the kids will be having some.
Yes. If you only have rolled oats, you can use them instead. Let it soak longer or overnight. It will have a chewy texture.
Use maple syrup or agave for the sweetener, and swap the Greek yogurt with a dairy-free option.
Overnight oats will last up to 5 days in the fridge. I do not recommend freezing it.
