FAQs and tips

  • Protein: Feel free to use your favorite protein brand and flavor.
  • Sweetener: Honey, maple syrup, or keto-approved syrups
  • We recommend using coconut cream for a thick creamy ice cream consistency. But you may substitute with milk like whole milk, rice milk, almond or cashew milk.

Can you put protein powder in ice cream

It is safe to add protein to your homemade ice cream. Protein powder will give you some added nutrition and protein to your homemade ice cream. Get a good dose of protein while indulging in a treat! Adding protein to store-bought ice cream full of fat and sugar does not make it a healthier option!

Does ice cream have a lot of protein

There are some ice cream brands that offer protein ice creams now. Even though they may be high in protein, do watch the labels for hidden sugars and fats. You may be able to find some great options out there but always best to make your own at home!

Can I use milk instead of cream

We used coconut cream to make this homemade protein ice cream. There are other options if you don’t have coconut cream. A not to ideal substitute would be to use heavy cream. You may also use milk which won’t give you that rich and creamy flavor but will still work. Any milk will work great like whole milk, almond milk, cashew milk, or rice milk.
