This Strawberry Cottage Cheese Smoothie is creamy, naturally sweet, and packed with protein, with 17 grams of protein per serving. Blended with frozen strawberries, it has a smooth texture and a light, cheesecake-like flavor without being heavy. It’s perfect for breakfast, post-workout, or a quick snack that actually keeps you full.

This cottage cheese smoothie recipe is one of those smoothies I started making when I wanted something higher in protein but still simple. Cottage cheese might sound different in a smoothie, but once it’s blended, you don’t taste it at all. It just makes everything extra creamy and filling, and now it’s one of my go-to quick breakfasts.
If you’re craving more creamy berry smoothies that pack protein and taste like a treat, try my Strawberry Banana Smoothie or Strawberry Protein Shake.

- Quick and easy, ready in minutes
- Great for meal prep or on-the-go mornings
Recipe Overview
Key Ingredients
Here’s everything you’ll need to make this high protein Strawberry Smoothie, and the full amounts are in the recipe card at the bottom.

- Low-fat cottage cheese: For that thick, creamy texture and lots of protein. Full-fat works if you want it richer, but low-fat keeps it lighter without losing the goodness.
- Vanilla almond milk: Adds subtle sweetness and keeps it dairy-light, but regular milk, oat milk, or even coconut milk will work.
- Frozen strawberries: Frozen is non-negotiable here for that thick, frosty consistency.
- Ripe banana: Slice and freeze it ahead of time. The frozen banana makes everything ultra-creamy and adds natural sweetness without extra sugar.
- Honey or maple syrup: For added sweetness. Skip it if your banana is super ripe and sweet, and you can swap in a zero-calorie sweetener.
- Optional toppings: Whipped cream, chopped fresh strawberries, or a sprinkle of chia seeds.
How to Make Strawberry Cottage Cheese Smoothie
Add the ingredients to the blender: In a high-powered blender, add all the smoothie ingredients.
Blend the smoothie: Blend on high until it is smooth and creamy.

Pour and serve: Pour the smoothie into serving glasses. This recipe makes 2 servings. Top with whipped cream, fresh berries, or chia seeds, and serve. You also do not need to top with anything and just serve and enjoy.

Variations & Tips
- Swap strawberries for frozen mixed berries to get a bolder, tangier flavor that still vibes perfectly with the banana. If you have to use fresh berries instead, add ½ cup ice cubes so it doesn’t turn watery.
- Boost the protein: Add a scoop of vanilla or unflavored protein powder for an extra protein kick without messing with the taste.
- Freeze the cottage cheese in ice cube trays first. It turns the texture super thick, almost like soft-serve.
- Taste before adding any sweetener. Super-ripe bananas often mean you can skip the honey or maple syrup entirely.
- Adjust thickness: Add more milk for a thinner smoothie or less for a thicker, spoonable texture.
Serving Ideas
- Pair with toast, like avocado toast, or eggs, like cottage cheese egg bites for a balanced breakfast
- Pour into a bowl and top with granola and fresh fruit
- Enjoy as a post-workout recovery drink
Common Questions
No. Any cheesy flavor is masked completely once it’s all blended. Just keep blending until it’s silky smooth, and you’ll get that rich, creamy strawberry.
No, it blends smoothly with dairy, almond, oat, or coconut milk. If it separates after sitting, just give it a stir or quickly re-blend it.
It is best fresh, but you can store in an airtight jar or container in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Shake or stir before drinking as it may thicken or separate a bit.
Yes, you can freeze it in ice cube trays or containers for up to a month. Just thaw in the fridge overnight or re-blend frozen cubes with a splash of milk. Tastes great either way.
Yes, but the smoothie will be thinner. Add a handful of ice or freeze the strawberries first for a thicker texture.
