Recipe summary
- Quick and easy: This cheesecake-inspired recipe is so convenient because it comes together within minutes!

Ingredients needed
This recipe couldn’t be easier to make with such delicious, simple ingredients. Here’s everything you’ll need to make them. Full measurements are listed further down below in the recipe card.
- Yogurt: The taste of vanilla yogurt in this recipe really complements the cream cheese and strawberry flavors. However, you can use plain yogurt or for a boost of protein, mix in Greek yogurt.
- Cream cheese: Just 4 ounces of cream cheese makes this taste just like cheesecake.
- Milk: Add in any milk variety you like best.
- Sweetener: To perfectly sweeten the oats, we’re using honey. You can substitute with maple syrup or stevia if preferred.
- Vanilla extract: To bring out the sweetness.
- Old-fashioned rolled oats: I recommend rolled oats for that perfect chewy texture. You can use quick oats, but they will have a softer, mushier consistency. Steel-cut oats will not work for this recipe, as they will not soften to the right texture.
- Fresh strawberries: I recommend using fresh, not frozen, strawberries for best results.
- Strawberry preserve: For extra strawberry flavor.

Tips from my kitchen
Recipe Tips
- You can easily customize them to make them your own! Instead of using strawberries, other fruits work great too! Try another berry, cherries, or peaches with that same flavor of preserves or jam.
- Prefer warm oatmeal? Feel free to serve these overnight oats warmed up, too! Heat them in the microwave for 30 seconds to a minute or two, depending on how warm you’d like them. Once heated, stir and add a bit more milk, as needed.
- This strawberry overnight oats recipe is naturally gluten-free, however, oats can get cross-contaminated in factories. To ensure your oats are gluten-free, be sure the package is labeled certified gluten-free.
- To keep this recipe vegan, be sure to use dairy-free milk and yogurt. Also, be sure to use maple syrup or another sweetener rather than honey.
Frequently asked questions
Letting the oats soak in the milk and yogurt for at least 2 hours or overnight allows the liquid ingredients to fully hydrate and soften the oatmeal. I recommend waiting at least 2 hours, but 5 hours overnight will result in the best texture.
I always add milk (any variety) to our overnight oats recipes. Adding a liquid like water is not going to give the oats that delicious creaminess that we want.
Yes. If you don’t have strawberries or like them, you can use another fruit of choice like blueberries or raspberries.
No. I do not recommend using steel-cut oats. However, you can use quick oats if you do not have rolled oats.
Storage recommendations
Keep overnight oats stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container or in mason jars for up to 4 to 5 days. When you’re ready to enjoy, give the mixture a good stir and add an extra splash of milk, if you’d like.
