How to make salmon patties

Salmon patties are generally easy to make. You need the shredded salmon, some herbs, an eggs and fillers to bind the salmon together like almond meal, oat flour, and eggs. Mix together and form balls with your hands and pat down into patties and cook over a skillet.

It comes down to what other flavors you like in your salmon patties. You can add in some fresh chili peppers or fresh sliced onions or chives. Some diced red peppers will also taste great but I prefer not to add them to patties. Other fillers that can be used are cornmeal, crackers, flour, or quinoa.

As for the salmon, I preferred making some fresh salmon and shredded them as opposed to using canned salmon. If you prefer using canned salmon for this recipe you can do so. It will still be the best salmon pattie recipe ever!

How long do Salmon Patties last in the fridge

Seal your leftover salmon patties in an air-tight container and store in the fridge for up to 4-5 days. We have hardly had to save these patties for later because they are usually gone the same day or at the most the very next day. These keep well in the fridge and great to use for meal prep and heated up the next few days. Cooked salmon generally should be fine in the fridge for 5-7 days.

Can uncooked salmon patties be frozen?

Yes, you can absolutely prepare your salmon patties ahead and freeze them for later use. Remember not to cook the patties first, they need to remain uncooked. Place on a baking sheet and place in the freezer for about an hour. Once frozen, remove and wrap each of the patties with a plastic wrap and place in a resealable freezer bag. They can be stored for up to one month.

    1. I haven’t tested it without flour, but my first suggestion would be to use ground pork rinds in place of the oat flour. You need a bit of binder. Add a bit more almond flour.
