Muffin Baking Tips

  • Don’t overmix the batter: Stir the batter just until it’s combined. Overmixing it will lead to dense muffins.
  • Try to use room-temperature ingredients: Doing this will help everything mix smoothly and bake evenly.
  • Don’t overfill the liners: Go for about ¾ full, which gives you nicely domed tops without overflowing.
  • Allow the muffins to cool: Before serving, let the muffins cool. This keeps them from falling apart when removing from the pan.

Storage and Freezing Tips

  • Room temperature: Store muffins in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
  • Refrigerator: Great for yogurt-based or higher-protein muffins. They will keep in the fridge for up to one week.
  • Freezing: Most muffins will freeze well for up to 3 months.
  • To reheat: When ready to serve again, microwave the muffins for 20–30 seconds or warm in the oven.

Pro tip: Freeze muffins individually, then transfer them to a freezer bag for easy grab-and-go.

Common Questions

How Can i make homemade muffins healthier?

There are a few ways you can do this. Swap in whole-wheat flour for regular flour, reduce the sugar slightly or use sugar substitutes, or add Greek yogurt, fruit, or protein powder to your muffins.

Why did my muffins turn out dry?

This usually happens from overbaking the muffins or adding too much flour. Spoon and level your flour and check the muffins early. It is best to use a toothpick until it comes out clean to check for doneness.

Can I double the recipe for muffins?

Absolutely. Muffin recipes scale well and are great for batch baking.
