Recipe notes

  • I recommend wearing gloves when working with Jalapenos.
  • You may dip each jalapeno popper, cheese filling face down if you prefer a bit of crunch. If topping with breadcrumbs, spray each one with cooking oil spray.
  • I do not eat bacon. But you can cook bacon bits on the side and add them in with the cheese-filling mix.

Frequently asked questions

Why are my jalapenos not hot?

As mentioned above, the chemical in the jalapeno that gives it heat is called capsaicin. If your jalapenos are not hot enough then that would be because it was picked too early and didn’t mature enough to get the right amount of capsaicin to build up.

What do jalapeno poppers contain?

Many make jalapeno poppers differently but they are generally made by hollowing out the jalapenos and then they are stuffed with a mixture of cream cheese, spices, and sometimes ground meat, and then breaded. They are then either deep-fried, air fried, or baked.

What sauce goes well with jalapeno poppers?

Most people will dip them with some sort of creamy dip like Ranch. You can dip them in marinara sauce or even ketchup.

  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F.
  • One you fill the jalapeno halves with the cheese-filling mix, its time to add to the air fryer.
  • Place the poppers in the air fryer basket, leaving some space between each one. Air fry at 375°F for 6-10 minutes or until they are golden brown.
  • Let them cool for a few minutes before handling.
