  • Honey: you can swap it with agave.
  • Vanilla: Adds a nice touch.
  • Lime: Lime juice is a key ingredient in the fruit salad dressing! It balances the sweetness and keeps the fruit looking and tasting fresher for longer. You can substitute lemon, orange, or pineapple juice if needed.
  • Poppy seeds: I wanted to add a little texture, so I threw in some poppy seeds. You can skip this ingredient if necessary or use chia instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you keep fruit salad from turning brown?

The best way I’ve found to keep fruit salad bright and vibrant is to add lime, lemon, orange, or pineapple juice to the salad dressing and toss the fruit well with it. These citrus fruits contain a key enzyme that keeps other fruits like apples, pears, peaches, and bananas from browning.

Is it okay to make fruit salad the night before?

That depends on the fruits your using! If you’re going to add apples, pears, bananas, or peaches, I would wait until the next day to add in those fruits. Other fruits like berries are great to prepare the night before. Allow them to marinate in the dressing for the best flavor!

Can I skip the sweetener?

Yes. If you do not want to use honey or agave, you don’t have to, especially if you are trying to cut down on your calories.

Can I freeze this fruit salad?

No. I do not recommend freezing it. But, if you plan to freeze it to use in smoothies later on, then you sure can. It will freeze for up to 6 months.

How can I store leftovers?

If you have leftovers, place them in an airtight container and store them in the fridge for up to 3 days.
