This cottage cheese chocolate pudding is smooth, creamy, and packed with protein. It’s made with simple ingredients and comes together in minutes. If you’re looking for a quick dessert that’s rich but still on the lighter side, this one is so good.

I started making this when I wanted something chocolatey but didn’t want to reach for chocolate bars all the time. I know cottage cheese in a pudding sounds a little different, but once it’s blended, it turns completely smooth and creamy.
With 35 grams of protein per serving, this pudding is now one of my go-to snacks when I want something sweet, high in protein, and filling.
Recipe Overview
Ingredients for the Pudding
Below is a list of the ingredients that’s needed to make this pudding. Full measurements are listed further down in the recipe card.

- 1 cup cottage cheese: Using full fat will make this pudding rich and thick but it is not a must. I use 4% most of the time.
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder: Use good quality cocoa powder. Be careful if you use dark cocoa powder, the color will come out really dark.
- 2 scoops protein powder: Any protein powder will work here. You can either use chocolate or vanilla. For this recipe I prefer using chocolate. Plant-based protein also works great.
- 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup: Any sweetener you normally use is fine.
- 1/4 cup milk of choice is fine here. Use what you have on hand.
Optional toppings: If you do not want to add these its fine. But the nutrition facts in the recipe card below includes the toppings.
- 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips, melted
- Strawberries, chopped (or other berries of your choice)
- Coconut Whip
How To Make Cottage Cheese Chocolate Pudding
Add the ingredients to the blender: In a blender, add the 1 cup cottage cheese, 2 tablespoons cocoa powder, 2 scoops protein powder (you can use vanilla or chocolate flavor), 2 tablespoons honey, and 1/4 cup milk.

Blend: The the pudding ingredients until smooth. You can taste and adjust the sweetness if needed at this point.
Chill: Divide them into two cups and store them in the fridge covered for 1-2 hours to cool and hold.

Serve: When ready to serve, top with melted chocolate, coconut whip, or berries, and serve.
Tips For The Best Pudding
Here are some tips from my kitchen so get the best possible texture.
- Blend the ingredients really well so the texture is smooth and creamy
- Use good quality cocoa powder for the best chocolate flavor
- Adjust sweetness to taste depending on your protein powder. Feel free to add more honey or maple syrup if needed. Start with one teaspoon at a time.
- Chill the pudding before serving. This is important so it thickens up nicely. Plus it tastes better too.
- Add the toppings right before serving for the best texture.
Common Questions
Not at all. Once its blended in with the other ingredients, the texture will come out smooth and the chocolate flavor takes over.
You can use Chocolate or vanilla. They both work really well here. I prefer chocolate because it will give a richer flavor.
You can, but you may need to adjust the sweetness by possibly adding a bit more honey. The thickness will be different as well and I suggest you use half of the milk instead (which is just 2 tablespoons).
Yes you sure can. Once the cottage cheese is blended, place in jars and store in the fridge for up to 2 to 3 days. Do not add any of the toppings just yet.

- 1 cup cottage cheese, low-fat, I used 4%
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 2 scoops protein powder, chocolate or vanilla (I used chocolate)
- 2 tablespoons honey, or maple syrup
- 1/4 cup 2 % milk , or any other milk of choice
Optional toppings
- 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips, melted
- 1/4 cup Chopped Strawberries, or other berries of your choice
- 2 tablespoons Coconut Whip, or Greek Yogurt
Instructions
- In a blender, add the 1 cup cottage cheese, 2 tablespoons cocoa powder, 2 scoops protein powder, 2 tablespoons honey, and 1/4 cup 2 % milk .

- Blend until smooth.

- Divide them into two cups and store them in the fridge covered for 1-2 hours to cool and hold.

- When ready to serve, top both servings each with melted 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips (equally), 2 tablespoons Coconut Whip, and 1/4 cup Chopped Strawberries, and serve. See note

Notes
- Nutrition facts includes the toppings: melted chocolate, strawberries, and coconut whip.
- The chill time is important for the pudding to thicken up. If you can use full-fat even better. If not use 4%.
- After adding the melted chocolate, you can chill it in the fridge again for another 10-15 minutes so it hardens a bit. I personally like it melted. So its up to you.
- Use any berries for topping.
- Instead of coconut whip, you can use yogurt or skip altogether.
