Recipe notes and tips

  • You may use any milk of your choice or a combination of different milk. Like almond milk with coconut milk, or coconut milk and 2% milk.
  • Consider making the chia pudding ahead, and make the apple pie topping when ready.
  • Toppings that work well will be pecans. Our second choice would be chopped almonds or walnuts.
  • Once you mix the chia pudding, allow it to sit for 5 minutes and mix again before letting it soak for the desired time.
  • Store the apple pie topping mixture separately if possible, and when ready to serve you may heat them up separately before topping off the chia pudding.
  • Make your own apple sauce at home or you may use store-bought apple sauce.
  • As for the apples, we love honey crisp but other apples can be used like Ambrosia or Pink lady.
  • When cooking the apple pie mix, allow them to cook until they are fork tender.
  • For a thicker and creamier chia pudding, use 1/4 cup of dairy-free vanilla yogurt.
