This Strawberry Banana Bread is soft, moist, and packed with fresh strawberry flavor in every bite. It’s the perfect way to use up ripe bananas, and it comes together with simple pantry ingredients. Great for breakfast, snack time, or a quick treat.

Banana bread has always been one of those recipes I make without even thinking about it. If I see spotty bananas on the counter, I already know I am going to be making banana bread with them.
One day, I had fresh strawberries that needed to be used, so I folded them right into the batter and hoped for the best. It ended up being one of those simple upgrades that makes you wonder why you didn’t try it sooner. My kids love it with added chocolate chips, but you do not have to add them.
Recipe Overview
Key Ingredients
Below are the ingredients I used to make this chocolate chip strawberry banana bread. Full measurements are further down in the recipe card.

- Bananas: Use ripe bananas. You will need 1 cup mashed, and if you go a little over, it’s ok.
- Oil or butter: I used unsalted butter, but coconut oil will be just fine.
- Egg: used as a binder; any egg substitute is ok to use here.
- Plain Greek yogurt or Vanilla-flavored works. If you want to use a plant-based option, you can.
- Sugar: Brown sugar or cane sugar
- Pantry staples: baking powder, baking soda, Vanilla Extract, and Salt
- Flour: all-purpose flour works great. Whole wheat or gluten-free flour will be fine as well.
- Strawberries: Use fresh if possible. Frozen will not work as well and will make it too moist and soggy.
- Optional: chocolate chips added in or on top.
Recipe Tips
- Use very ripe bananas: The darker and softer they are, the sweeter and more flavorful your bread will be.
- Pat the strawberries dry: Too much moisture can make the bread dense. Dice them small and lightly pat dry before folding into the batter.
- Do not overmix: Mix until just combined. Overmixing can make the bread tough instead of soft.
- Toss strawberries in a little flour: This helps prevent them from sinking to the bottom while baking.
- Check the center: Every oven is different. Insert a toothpick into the center, then make sure it comes out mostly clean before removing it from the oven.
How To Make Strawberry Banana Bread
Preheat the oven to 350F and line a 9×5 loaf pan with parchment paper or cooking spray.
Mix the wet ingredients: In a bowl, add the mashed bananas, melted butter or coconut oil, egg, Greek yogurt, sugar, and vanilla extract. Whisk to combine and set aside.

Mix the dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Combine the wet and dry ingredients: Mix the flour mixture with the egg mixture using a spatula until combined. Do not overmix.
Add the strawberries and chocolate chips: Add in the chopped strawberries and chocolate chips if using. Fold them into the batter.

Transfer the batter to the pan: Place the batter in the prepared pan, then top with more chocolate chips and sliced strawberries, if you like.
Bake: Bake for 50-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool and serve: Allow the bread to cool fully before slicing. Serve and Enjoy.

Common Questions
Even though frozen strawberries will work, I prefer not to use them and go for fresh ones. If you decide to use frozen strawberries, thaw and drain them first. Too much liquid can affect the texture.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
Yes. Slice it, wrap tightly, and freeze for up to 3 months. It’s great to pull out one slice at a time.
This usually happens from over mixing or adding too many strawberries.
