Ingredients Needed

Here are the ingredients you’ll need for these meatballs. Full measurements are listed further down below in the recipe card.

ingredients for air fryer meatballs.
  • Lean Ground Beef: This is the base of the meatball. You can swap it with ground chicken or turkey.
  • Almond Flour: Used as a binder, almond flour is a gluten-free option, but you may also use breadcrumbs.
  • Grated Parmesan: A little Parmesan adds a salty, savory depth of flavor to each bite.
  • Egg: Helps to bind all the ingredients together and keeps the meatballs moist.
  • Garlic: I like using fresh garlic, but it can be swapped with garlic powder.
  • Dried Oregano: A classic herb that gives the meatballs an Italian-inspired touch.
  • Kosher Salt & Pepper

Tips from my kitchen

For the perfect meatballs, try these simple tips:

  • Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure even cooking.
  • For a golden crust, lightly spray the meatballs with cooking spray before air frying.
  • If you like them extra crispy, cook them for an extra minute or two—just keep an eye on them!

Variations and Substitutions

Want to switch things up? Here are a few fun variations:

  • Add fresh herbs: Toss in some fresh basil or parsley for extra flavor.
  • Spicy kick: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the mixture for some heat.
  • Cheese lovers: Mix in some shredded mozzarella cheese for a gooey, cheesy center.
  • Gluten-Free: Almond flour makes this recipe naturally gluten-free.
  • Dairy-Free: Skip the parmesan or use a dairy-free alternative.
  • Egg-Free: Use a flax egg (1 tbsp flax meal + 2.5 tbsp water) as a replacement for the egg.

Make ahead and storage

You can easily make these meatballs ahead of time. Prepare them and store them in the fridge for up to 3 days before cooking. They also freeze well! Just cook them, let them cool, and then freeze for up to 3 months. To reheat, pop them in the air fryer at 375°F for 5-6 minutes, and you’re good to go!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use ground turkey for these meatballs?

Yes, ground turkey works great for a leaner version of these meatballs!

Can I make these without an air fryer?

Absolutely! You can bake them in a preheated oven at 375°F for about 15-18 minutes.

How do I know when the meatballs are done?

Use a meat thermometer! The internal temperature should reach 160°F for beef.
