To make this Grilled Greek Chicken Kabob recipe you will need to have these ingredients below. The full measurements are going to be listed further down below.
For the Geek yogurt chicken Marinade:
plain Greek yogurt
extra-virgin olive oil
green olive tapenade
white wine/balsamic vinegar
fresh oregano leaves, chopped (or 2 teaspoons dried)
garlic cloves
Kosher salt and ground pepper
For the Skewers:
boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 2-inch pieces
red bell peppers
red onion
wooden or metal skewers
to serve: feta cheese
How to make Greek Chicken Kabobs
- First, make the marinade and marinate the chicken: To a large bowl, add all the marinade ingredients and mix well to combine. Add the pieces of chicken and toss to get evenly coated. Marinate into the fridge for up to 1 hour.
- Next, add chicken to skewers: To assemble the skewers, thread a piece of chicken, followed by a piece of pepper and onion. Repeat with the rest of the ingredients; you should get around 8 skewers.
- Grill the chicken: Meanwhile, heat a grill pan or the outside grill to medium-high heat. Grill the skewers for 6-8 minutes in total, or until the chicken is fully cooked through.
- Serve and enjoy: Finally, serve them with crumbled feta cheese and enjoy!
Recipe notes and tips
- Use chicken breast. You may use boneless chicken thighs but we much prefer using chicken breast.
- Red peppers: this can be substituted with any other bell pepper. Yellow, green, or orange will work.
- Onion: we used red/purple onion, if you can’t find any just use any onion.
- Do not overcook the chicken so it doesn’t dry out and get rubbery.
- Any yogurt would work as well instead of Greek yogurt.
- Soak the wooden skewers for a good 15-20 minutes to preventing them from burning.
- Green olive tapenade could be an optional ingredient but adds a great taste.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days
- Also, you can prepare this ahead. Marinate the chicken a day before.

Cut the pepper into equal sizes square sizes. They should not be too small and of decent size to prevent it from burning while the chicken is still undercooked.
If you are using bamboo kabob sticks, it is best to soak them for at least 10 minutes to 30 minutes to prevent them from burning.
Bamboo Kabob sticks can go in the oven so long as they are soaked ahead to prevent them from smoking and burning.

- 1 large red onion, cut into 1 ½-inch cubes
- 8 skewers
