Every year, my kids look forward to Christmas time and the holidays so they can get these cranberry bliss bars from Starbucks. I try not to focus on making copycats recipes but I had to try and remake this one because I feel better knowing all the ingredients I am putting into my baked goodies and what my kids are eating. I found that butter works great for these bliss bars but I ended up deciding on using vegetable oil
These cranberry bliss bars turned out so good. They are easy to make and don’t take long to make at all.
Why I love it
- Saves me many trips to starbucks and money!
- It is really simple and easy to make too!
- These bliss bars taste so good, you would want to make them all year round.
Ingredients needed
Below is a list of ingredients you will need to make these bliss bars. Full measurements will be listed further down below in the recipe card.
- Vegetable oil: or any other oil like coconut oil
- Brown sugar: coconut sugar, cane sugar, or monk fruit sugar will also work
- Vanilla extract
- Orange extract
- Egg
- All-purpose flour
- A pinch of fine kosher salt
- Baking powder
- White chocolate chips or white chocolate bar
- Dried cranberries, roughly chopped
- Cream cheese, softened
- Maple syrup: or you may use honey
How to make Cranberry Bliss Bars
Preheat the oven to 325 F and line a 9×9 inch pan with parchment paper.
Step 1: With a hand mixer, beat the oil, sugar, extracts, and egg until creamy. Add
flour, salt, and baking powder and mix just until combined.
Step 2: Fold in the cranberries and chocolate chips. The mixture will be similar to cookie dough, so it is a bit tricky to spread in the pan. Transfer the batter on your prepared pan and spread into an even layer. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or just until set.
Step 3: Meanwhile, in a large bowl, beat the cream cheese with maple syrup and
extracts until smooth. Refrigerate the frosting until ready to use.
Step 4: Once the base is done baking, remove it from the pan and allow it to cool.
Spread with frosting, then slice into four large squares.
Step 5: Cut the squares diagonally into triangles. Sprinkle with dried cranberries and drizzle with melted chocolate.
Recipe Notes
- Instead of cranberries, you can add raisins or dried cherries.
- Add some chopped walnuts or pecans into the base batter.
- Allow the base to cool completely before topping it with cream cheese. After the base has cooled enough to handle, you can place it in the fridge to cool it off quickly.
