Healthy Chocolate Waffles

Delicious chocolate waffles made with whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, eggs, maple syrup, and yogurt. Fluffy, tasty, easy to make, and ready in just 30 minutes.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour or gluten-free flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp fine kosher salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup or honey
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips

TOPPINGS:

  • Fresh raspberries or strawberries
  • Maple syrup or honey
  • Shaved chocolate optional

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl stir the dry ingredients: the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a second large bowl whisk the eggs, yogurt, and vanilla. Add in the dry ingredients and stir well to combine, then fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Preheat a waffle maker until a green light appears. Cook the waffles for 3-5 minutes, or until slightly crisp
  • Serve with fresh fruits, and maple syrup and top with shaved chocolate, if desired.

Notes

  • use any flour of your choice.
  • instead of maple syrup, you may use agave or honey.
  • Top with your favorite fruits and spread.
  • Double the batter and store to make more the next day.
