Ingredients

  • ¼ cup coconut aminos liquid
  • 1 tablespon rice vinegar
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 teaspoons ginger fresh
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 teaspoons Sriracha or hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • ½ tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium broccoli head cut into florets
  • 1 pound large shrimp or medium, peeled and deveined
  • 2 green onions sliced diagonally
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds toasted
  • Kosher salt
  • Kosher pepper

Instructions

  • In a small bowl whisk well the first 7 ingredients.
  • Heat the oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli and stir fry for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • Pour 1/4 cup of water and reduce the heat to a medium-low. Cover, and continue to cook for 2-3 minutes, or until broccoli is tender with a crunch. Set aside.
  • To the same heated skillet add the shrimp and cook for 2 minutes over medium heat. Stir the shrimp to flip, and pour over the teriyaki sauce. Cook, stirring continuously for 2-3 minutes, or until the shrimp is pink and opaque and the teriyaki sauce has thickened and nicely coats the shrimp.
  • Return the broccoli to the pan and sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • Protein: Feel free to use diced chicken or beef in place of the shrimp. For a vegetarian option, use pressed tofu.
  • Reheating: To reheat this recipe, simply reheat it in the microwave until fully warmed. For best results, reheat the broccoli and shrimp skillet recipe on the stovetop in a pan.
  • Oil: Any kind of cooking oil with a high smoke point will work for this broccoli with shrimp.
  • Sweetener: In place of the honey, use maple syrup or your other favorite liquid sweetener.
  • Vegan: Make a vegan teriyaki skillet recipe by substituting tofu for the shrimp and maple syrup for the honey.
  • Shrimp: Be careful not to overcook the shrimp or the results will not be as good.
  • Leftovers: Store the leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
